New batch pan for a stable sugar process

PT Angels upgrades sugar factory with technology from BMA for even crystallisation

BMA and the Indonesian sugar producer PT Angels Products, a subsidiary of PT Pasifik Agro Sentosa, have enjoyed a close and trusting partnership for many years. This successful collaboration now continues with the supply of a batch pan – the eighth of its type manufactured by BMA for this customer.

Step-by-step upgrade on Java

In Cilegon, a port city on the island of Java and around 100 km west of Jakarta, PT Angels is upgrading its sugar factory in a step-by-step approach. By focusing on high-performance key components such as the batch pan (DVK) from BMA, the company’s long-term goal is a more stable, more efficient and more resource-friendly process.

New batch pan replaces existing plant

The new batch pan from BMA is due to be commissioned in March 2026. It replaces an existing plant and is expected above all to achieve a more stable sugar process, with consistently high sugar quality and improved reliability.

More even crystallisation, better sugar quality

One distinguishing feature of the batch pans from BMA is their capacity to significantly reduce the formation of fines. These tiny crystal particles can be detrimental to the properties of the final product. Fewer fines produce a more even crystal structure. As a result, the sugar process yields a particularly pure, high-quality product, and is more stable in the downstream stations, all the way to drying and packaging.

In combination with a suitable automation solution, the batch pans show their full potential. The automation system from BMA increases efficiency and supports a consistently high level of sugar production.

Maintenance safeguards centrifugal performance

In addition to the batch pan, PT Angels is also investing in the maintenance of its eight K3300 continuous centrifugals from BMA as part of a comprehensive parts and service package. This involves replacing components that are prone to wear, such as the pre-screening baskets, restoring the original performance of the centrifugals and safeguarding it in the long term.

Target: ten batch pans from BMA

For BMA, this project is more than a one-off order. It symbolises a partnership that has developed over many years with BMA providing technical support for PT Angels on its growth path in the form of advice, assistance and the continuous development of its plants.

And our collaboration continues: as part of the upgrade programme, two more batch pans are planned for the future – bringing the number of plants from BMA in operation to ten!
